enclave | architecture is a woman owned small business located in Bend, Oregon, providing architectural services specializing in single family residential projects throughout the state. The company was established in early 2020 by Sara Bergby, a licensed architect in the state of Oregon. Sara graduated from California Polytechic State University San Luis Obispo in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and has worked for several architecture firms in California and Oregon in the years since. Though she has experience in both commercial and residential design, her passion lies in working with clients on custom residential projects.

Sara developed an enthusiasm for home design early in life. She spent much of her free time in her teens perusing home plan magazines and sketching various floor plan layouts, and her favorite class in high school was computer drafting. Environmental design classes that she attended in college led her to develop a passion for site design as well, leading her to a holistic project approach that views the building and site as equally important elements.

The passion that Sara has for complementary site and building design and her years of experience in the architecture field are just a couple of the things that set enclave | architecture apart from most residential design firms. During her years in Central Oregon she has developed relationships with various design review committees, including Brasada, North Rim, Tetherow, Crosswater, Pronghorn, and Tree Farm. Her architect’s license and experience in the commercial permitting world give her a leg up when communicating with review entities and provide her with a distinctive view on residential design that she uses to benefit each of her clients. Additionally, she is committed to establishing a strong relationship with each client that she takes on, and her uniquely structured design process involves clients in developing the home design that best fits each client’s vision, needs, property, and budget.

Sara is an active member of the Bend Section of the Oregon Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). She served 2019-2020 as the Section’s Emerging Professionals Committee chair, 2021-2022 as the Director for the Bend Section, and is currently head of the research team for the organization’s new headquarters task force. Outside of her professional responsibilities and volunteering, she enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
