North Rim Craftsman.JPG

contractor: norman building & design

While working as the project architect at Norman Building and Design, Sara collaborated with Norman’s lead designer and the owners of this hillside home to refine the conceptual layout, add clerestory windows to the front of the house, and adjust the exterior facade to meet North Rim development’s stringent standards for stone integration. The ultimate result is a warm and welcoming home that serves the owners beautifully.

The exterior of the home features cedar shake siding, natural stone veneer, standing seam metal roofing, and a metal railing at the rear deck. A low-sloped roof and exposed rafter tails give the exterior a Craftsman style bent, while stained wood posts, beams, and doors add visual warmth. The expansive rear deck is oriented to face north, providing views of Mount Jefferson and a cool place to relax in summer heat.

The interior of the home contains a master suite, TV room, office, and combination office/guest room in addition to the typical great room/dining room/kitchen, pantry, laundry room, mud room, and bathrooms. Hallways are minimized to streamline the layout, and generous windows bring the outdoors in throughout the home. The warmth of stained wood ceilings and beams melds with cooler cream-colored walls, providing a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
